Tailored Gates Inspired by History
The design for the Hound Lodge gates was based on a 1930s photograph of a gate from elsewhere on the Goodwood Estate, combined with an architect’s interpretation of the original image. Using these references, we carefully crafted three gates from high-quality oak: a matching pair of automated vehicle gates and a pedestrian gate leading to the woodland.
Our team took pride in the intricate details of this project, which included curved timberwork reinforced with solid steel bars running through the centre. To ensure durability, we used powder-coated steel, which not only strengthens the gates but also enhances their longevity. As a finishing touch, hand-turned oak acorns were added to the hanging posts, a nod to the estate’s heritage and attention to detail.
